Since training as a general surgeon in a major trauma center in Newark, NJ, Dr. Casey has continued his career with a series of associations with leaders in the field such as Glenn Kindt, MD; Thomas Gennerelli, MD and Don Marion, MD.

Dr. Casey is Chief of Neurosurgery at the Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. Critical care services are provided onsite, by a team of nursing colleagues, physicians, and paraprofessionals. We collaborate about patient care twice daily at a minimum, and utilize computerized records and online radiology services to provide prompt changes when the situation warrants.

Following fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care, Dr. Casey has remained interested in this aspect of patient care. Dr. Casey teaches nursing physician and prehospital personnel in the care of critically ill patients, both following trauma and with conditions such as stroke. He holds NIH certification in Stroke care, and has been on the faculties of several Universities while directing Critical Care Units.

Dr. Casey’s expertise in this area aids the general neurosurgery patient to a faster recovery, and continuity of care through all phases of their hospital stay.
