Why Dr. Casey?

Dr. Casey, board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, was trained as a neurosurgical generalist at the University of Pittsburgh under Dr. Peter Jannetta. He completed his undergraduate and surgical training at Georgetown University, The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and Queensquare Hospital in London, England. In addition, he completed a Critical Care fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Currently, Dr. Casey is Chief of Neurosurgery at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center and Associate professor at Michigan State University.

Dr. Casey is a member of many local, state, national and international professional organizations. In so doing he lectures and attends meetings to keep in touch with the latest neuroscience advances. His publications number more than 450, and he is on the editorial board of several medical journals. He has authored multiple book chapters and wrote STRIKING BACK with George Weigel. He is an internationally recognized expert on surgery of the cranial nerves. As a result, he speaks nationally and internationally on a variety of topics.

Dr. Casey and his former Professor, Dr. Jannetta, have developed a company, Jannetta Clinics PC that specializes in the treatment cranial nerve disorders, hypertension, and diabetes. Together with Dr. Jannetta, Dr. Casey has performed over 7000 microvascular decompressions (MVD). Dr. Casey and Dr. Jannetta continue their collaboration with their practices in Detroit and Pittsburgh. Dr. Casey is the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Jannetta Clinics, PC.

Dr. Casey has a strong interest in resident education and continuing medical education. Remaining involved with the education of physicians, nurses and residents encourages him to always be searching for the next best answer.

Dr. Casey has been happily married for 37 years and is the proud father of two children.
